Last month, JF and I treated ourselves to a fancy dinner at Venus, one of my favorite restaurants in Berkeley. Previously, I blogged about lunch at Venus but this was the first time I ate dinner there. Both JF and I were tempted by the entrée special: butterfish with seasonal vegetables over a bed of Japanese rice. The butterfish was exactly what it sounded like: buttery, flaky, and delicious.

Mmmm, butterfish...
We also shared dessert, which I can’t remember exactly what it was, only that it was surprisingly good. Don’t get me wrong; I was definitely ready to be impressed, especially since our server adamantly recommended it. But I don’t think I was expecting it to be this good. Some sort of toffee bread pudding with nuts, I believe it was, topped with a mound of whipped cream.

A great end to a fabulous meal.
It’s an understatement to say that I’m looking forward to trying their 3-course dinner menu in the near future, for an incredibly reasonable $29. Stay tuned!
