Dim sum-ptuous

Dim sum has got to be one of my favorite meals.  There’s the combination of noodle-y bits wrapped around delicious meats (aka dumplings) as well as the small plate experience of eating a little bit at a time, drinking tea all the while.

Yesterday, I went to East Ocean in Emeryville with MS and his wife KH.  In addition to serving delicious food, East Ocean is in a great location with views across the bay from their dining room.  The other thing I like about East Ocean is that one orders from a menu, but there are also a few carts so you can spontaneously grab anything that looks appealing.  (If you’re not familiar, ordering at dim sum restaurants typically comes in two flavors: marking a menu or pointing to things on a cart.  The carts are especially helpful for dim sum novices.)  Finally, the service is courteous and prompt, which can’t be said for all dim sum restaurants.

Enough with the talk, let’s get to the pictures shall we?
