A few Fridays ago, I met up with a friend for drinks after work. Dinner hour came and went as we sat and drank a couple of beers. I was hungry but it was already past 10. We had a craving for nachos and we headed toward Cancun (home of delicious burritos and salsa). Unfortunately, the police had barricaded the street and access was restricted to residents. What’s a hungry (and slighty tipsy) girl to do?
The answer was around the corner: Top Dog. Top Dog is a local chain that serves (can you guess?)… hot dogs. Sausages, more precisely. All of their offerings are $3 each, whether you go for the traditional frankfurter, the bratwurst, the veggie dog or the smoked chicken apple sausage, just to name a few.
Overall, Top Dog is a good though not great place. The two things I appreciate most about the joint are that they have hearty, sesame buns that they toast on the grill, and that they have a variety of mustards as well as onions, relish, and sauerkraut to top that quality piece of sausage. (If that sounds dirty to you, then you need to get your mind out of the gutter!)
