Quick Poll: What happens to your appetite when you’re sad?

OK, so I don’t usually get too personal on this blog, but I will admit to being a little sad these past few days. This has resulted in a severe decrease in my appetite. However, I know some people have the exact opposite response when they’re down. So, I’m curious about how y’all feel. Please take this completely unscientific poll, and leave comments below!

  1. If I’m just in a funk, I tent to comfort it with more food. But if I’m legitimately and genuinely sad, I eat less. I just don’t feel like it. Here’s hoping your heart and appetite are feeling better soon.

  2. in general, i eat more when i’m stressed or have had a bad day. but when i’m really sad about something for more than a short period i eat less.

  3. gone. totally lose it. can’t eat.

  4. I definitely eat less. When I’m sad or depressed, I don’t even bother doing anything, and that includes eating. Haha. I usually just sleep more and sloth around. ;/

BUT! In some cases, food does help in cheering me up. Especially when it’s really good and something I’ve been craving for in the past. That’s what my friends do when I’m down..feed me with something yummy. AH! The contradictions!

    • I think I know exactly what you mean. I feel less inspired/motivated to find something to eat on my own, but if someone puts delicious food in front of me, I’ll definitely eat it and ask for seconds!

  5. I relate food so much to sharing good meals with people that when I’m feeling in a funk and anti-social, my appetite is non-existent.
