About Me, About this blog

About Me:

With so many choices, it’s hard to decide what to order!

Hi, I’m Jen. My primary motivation in life is food. Eating is what motivates me in just about every aspect of my life. One of my mottos is: If my stomach is happy, then I’m happy. (The other is: Sharing is caring. It’s especially useful when your dining companion’s food looks tastier than your own.) My other passions are running, writing, and photography. Oh, and I guess science is somewhere on that list too!  I left academic science in 2011, took a 3-year career detour, and am now returning to research as a support staff scientist.

About this blog:

Simply put, I’m obsessed with food. There are so many interesting dimensions about food — culture, travel, memory, mood, economics, politics. Not to be cliche, but food is life! This blog will focus on restaurant reviews, food memories, recipes/cooking reports, food-related news or books, groceries, and much more. I’ll also occasionally write about whatever my latest obsession is, whether it’s a little-known movie or a recently completed knitting project.

Questions or comments? If you have questions/comments, I’d prefer them publicly on the blog, in the comments section. I respond to most comments fairly quickly. If you have something more to say (like, if you want to offer me a book deal or a free pastrami sandwich) or a recipe to share, email me at willblog4food [at] gmail [dot] com and I will get back to you ASAP!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I don’t know if you’ve looked into it yet, but I would HIGHLY recommend that you get your blog entered into the technorati database. It is by far the most recommended blog list to be included on (based on alot of research I’ve been doing).

If you can do it in wordpress, I would recommend you install a technorati widget (it displays lots of things, but my favorite is the fact that it displays the most recent post summaries from my favorite other blogs). Basically, it just a good way to begin to integrate yourself into the community about which you blog.

Just my 2 cents – take it or leave it.

I look forward to more of your postings Jen.

  2. Thanks for the tips, Daniel. I was on technorati with my last blog but I haven’t been there in a while. I’ll look into it.

  3. If you like food, not only eat but cook, try below website. Hope you read Chinese.

  9. I have nominated you for a Liebster Blog Award! It is an award passed on to bloggers with fewer than 200 followers, in the spirit of forging new connections. Check it out here: http://alternativehypothesis.wordpress.com/2011/11/26/the-liebster-blog-club/

  10. Hey Jen!

My name’s Quinten and I’m the editor at bayarea.com, a website launching on January 19th that aims to act as a guide for young people looking for fun ideas to eat, drink and play in the Bay Area. We’re trying to make the site a community by and for young people, so I’m on the hunt for contributors stumbled upon this blog and your running blog as well.

I think your voice and articles on restaurants, wineries and hikes would fit well on our site, and I was wondering if you’d be interested in re-purposing some of your existing content for publication with us?

bayarea.com is the newest venture by the Bay Area News Group, which owns the San Jose Mercury, the Oakland Tribune and other newspapers around Northern California. Because of this, there is going to be plenty of publicity and a large audience for the site, and obviously we’ll be able to link from articles under your byline to willblog4food.com or any other site to whom you’d like to give some exposure.

Let me know what you think and we can talk about ideas. You can email me at qdol@bayarea.com

Cheers and have a great Wednesday!
